The OSOC homework club -. despite being school holidays, many students from our homework club turned out to welcome Trustees Richard Micklewright and  Simon Bretherton together with charity founder Dave Britten during their recent visit from OSOC UK to OSOC Nepal. Also visiting the Homework Club were Maddie and Ella , two gap year travellers and OSOC supporters who were keen to see the wonderful work of OSOC in Nepal.

Nepal 2018 Trek

Our 2018 expedition will be to Langtang which is a region in the Himalayas to the north of the Kathmandu Valley and bordering Tibet. The Langtang National Park is located in the area and contains a wide variety of climatic zones, from subtropical to alpine. The park contains the Gosainkunda lakes which are sacred to Hindu sites. Another spiritual site is the Buddhist monastery Kyanjin Gompa.

Sponsor a Child

Please sponsor a child. £5 per month pays for a child to attend homework club. We ask for a year’s funds so that the student will have the knowledge that they will be a member of the homework club for a full year. In return you will get a monthly message from your sponsored student. Please bear in mind that English is not their first language. The tutors will help them  write their message!

This pays for children from the local government school to allow them to meet their potential. With professional tutors who will assist them in subjects leading up to SLC (School Leaving Certificate normally at age 16), essential if they are to have the opportunity to continue in education. English is key as further education is given in English and government schools teach in Nepali, whereas private schools teach in English.
